HOPE DEVOTIONAL: NOVEMBER 12 WHERE IS YOUR VEIL OF GLORY? (1) SCRIPTURE: EXODUS 24: 2- 3; 34: 29, 34 – 35

Spread the love

We do hear about people who were once on fire for the LORD JESUS in those days, but later completely gone into the world again. There are stories of those who were great miracle workers but today at the mercy of Satan. We have stories of those whose faces carried literal fire, but in a space of time, go about wearing ordinary faces. We heard the story of Moses, when he stayed with God in the tent at Mount Sinai for forty days and forty nights receiving the Ten Commandments from God. On the days he came down from the mount, story had it that nobody could look at his face (Exod. 34: 29). As many as who looked toward his face would quickly cover their faces. Moses was so much embedded in the glory of God on the mount that his face was transformed from natural into supernatural. Initially, he was not aware of carrying the glory of God upon his face. On realization, he resorted to wearing veil when coming to face his people (Exod. 34: 34 – 35).

The lesson drawn from this Moses’ encounter is that, no one contacts God’s glory and still remains the same. There is possibility that after we spent quality and righteous time in God’s presence, our eyes changed to that of hawk and our eye balls turn too fearsome to behold. Those who did dried fasting and prayers for three months testified to this transformation. Many Christians had desired to reach this glorious level with God. As long as the glory of God remains on our faces, the words we preach or teach will be accepted by our hearers. When Moses’ face contained the glory, the Israelites agreed to do all that he told them about the Ten Commandments (Exod. 24: 2-3. But after a long time, the Israelites went back to doing what they said they would not do again.

The likely thing that could have happened to Moses and the Israelites was that the people started getting familiar with the glory of God on his face. Consequently, the people started losing faith in Moses’ words. Moses knew that something has happened to him, but kept wearing the veil that he knew will fade away. Apostle Paul said “We are not like Moses who put a veil over his face so that the people of Israel would not see his face even though it was destined to fade away” (2 Cor. 3: 13). What Paul talked about here is repeating itself amongst church leaders of all ages. They would realize their faces no longer carry God’s presence or the glory, yet they will keep on wearing the veil of seemingly “anointed face” preaching and prophesying. In their minds they know that the glory has departed them, yet they keep up fake appearance of mighty and anointed Men of God. There is no need pretending to be in God’s glory when the glory departs. Humility demands that we check our lives and repent of our sin to revive the unction again.

PRAYER:

JEHOVAH ROPHI, always remind me when your glory is departing my soul and allow the Holy Spirit to re-equip me with your presence in Jesus name.
