DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: NOVEMBER 13 WHERE IS YOUR VEIL OF GLORY? (2) SCRIPTURE: 2 CORINTHIANS 3: 7, 11; MATTHEW 7: 5

Spread the love

Yesterday’s devotional attempted telling us that Moses after meeting with God face to face and contacted God’s glory, his people found it difficult to look at his face except he wears a veil. Apostle Paul said, by revelation, that after a long time of wearing the veil, the glory of God started fading from his face. Africa Study Bible puts 2 Cor. 3: 7 in a clear statement thus: “…the people of Israel could not look at Moses’ face for his face shone with the glory of God, even though the brightness was fading away” (2 Cor. 3: 7). Moses knew it because his words started losing power on his people. All that Moses needed then, would have been reactivating the glory on him. Presently, there are many servants of God running out of their earliest unction, yet wearing veil of God’s servants about, deceiving their followers. Today’s devotional will be touching areas people manifest their fading veils, yet behaving as if all things were still alright with them. Three of the ways fading veil of glory is noted: –

There is the veil of pride. Today, we have people who said we will do everything God says. They will be heard saying: “God we are your faithful people; whatever you say we will do.” But the truth is that they have broken away from all that God said they are to do. They rather cover their failure with religious rituals and convinced themselves that the rituals were all God wanted. In pride, they refused to admit that their veil of glory is fading. They are actually going about wearing veil of pride.

There are people going about with veil of false faces too. Many Christians and Christian leaders go about with images of false appearances. What they show themselves to be outwardly is not who they are within their minds. There are forms of pride and hypocrisy in our Christian lives. People do not want others to see their fading glory. It is very dangerous to wear faces of righteousness while our glory is fading away. Many of us have the veil of false fronts, dressed in powerfully looking costumes as great servants of God while inside us we know our glory has faded. This rub-off of fading glory is directly or indirectly passed on to the congregations.

There is self-righteousness and veil of Big Lie. We must know that many Christians today are going about in self-righteousness wearing “veil of big lie.” Going about in self-righteousness criticizing others of their sinful lives, while ignoring our areas we conduct ourselves sinfully; is like putting on the veil of big lies. Jesus Christ condemned this attitude when He talked of having a big log of wood in our eyes while trying to remove a little speck from another person’s eyes. Hear Jesus: “Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye” (Matt. 7: 5 New Living Translation). The beloved, where is your veil of glory? Let us all stop believing that people will accept us for who we are by putting on “veil of Big Lie”; that appears as God’s glory while we are full of sins. We must admit our inadequacies and ask God to supply us with His adequacy. Time is running out!

PRAYERS:

1. Ask God in prayers today, if you know who you are on the inside as one wearing fading veil of glory, to deliver you from hypocrisy and false appearances in Jesus name.

2. Ask God to begin overhauling His Church by enabling Christians and Christian leaders to admit their fading veils of glory, and have changes of attitudes in Jesus name.
