DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: DECEMBER 30 GRATEFUL ATTITUDE MAKES ONE A MAN AFTER GOD’S HEART SCRIPTURES: 1 SAM. 13: 14

Spread the love

In the Jesus’ parable of the ten talents, we can see what ingratitude is responsible for what caused the one who hid his talent in the sand awaiting for the return of his master. It was not he who asked the master to give him the talent. Though the master did not tell the servants to trade with the talent, but he had such in his mind. Two of the servants had the wisdom to invest the talents so as to make profits for their master; likely to appreciate their master of his continuous goodwill to them. The master’s responses to the servants showed he had a hidden intention for the servants to trade with the money.

This young man failed to return gratitude to good gesture. At the end, he lost his one talent to the one who has much. Obviously, he lost out of the good will of his master. The heart of the master was turned away from him. Of all the people God had relationship with in the Old Testament period; it was King David the Bible says is a man after God’s heart. In the time past, I used to believe that God’s heart went after King David because of his readiness to confess his sins then turned to upright living. Of late, I discover that King David gave praises and Thanksgiving in words and songs more than all other persons of his time. The numbers of composed songs and hymns David put together for God cannot be produced in a small space like this devotional. However, few of them can be pointed out here:

1. “I will give thanks to the Lord because of His righteousness; I will sing praises of the name of the Most High” *(Psa. 7: 17).

2. “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of your wonderful deeds” *(Psa. 9: 1).

3. “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods” (Psa.95: 1- 3).

4. “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever” (Psa. 118: 1).

5. “Sing to the Lord with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp” (Psa. 147:7).

There are many areas King David talked of his readiness to praise God, as well as admonishing the people of Israel to do same. Severally, King David moved God in praises and made God very happy. This amongst other commendable attitudes, obviously drew God’s heart to go after David. As Christians, we can as well make God’s heart go after us through quality praises and songs of good melody to God. We just have few hours to the end of this year. If perhaps you reading this devotional discover you are lacking in grateful attitude towards God, the suggested prayers here will help you out:

1. Pray that God gives you grace to see His goodness all over you which will enable you being grateful.

2. Ask the Holy Spirit of GOD to enlighten your understanding to see God’s goodness in your life.

3. Repent of every action of ungratefulness to God and Jesus Christ His Son, and then draw spirit of thankful heart into your life.

4. Ask God for a renewed heart. Ask every seed of ingratitude to die in your heart in Jesus name.
