The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda , has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, sacrifice, and renewed hope, urging citizens to remain steadfast in faith and patriotism as the country marks the 2026 Easter celebration.

The call was contained in a statement issued on April 5, 2026, by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki.

In his Easter message, Yilwatda described the season as a cornerstone of the Christian faith and a period for deep reflection on sacrifice, resilience, and redemption.

“Easter teaches us that sacrifice is the pathway to glory, that suffering is never the end of the story, and that with faith in God, hope can rise again even in difficult times,” he said.

He noted that the message of Easter remains relevant to Nigeria’s current realities, urging citizens to draw strength from the resurrection story and remain united despite prevailing challenges.

“At a time like this, we must not allow fear, division, or despair to define us as a people. Rather, we must stand together in unity and resolve, trusting God and supporting all lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace, order, and safety in our communities,” he stated.

The APC chairman also called on Christians to recommit themselves to virtues such as compassion, humility, and service to humanity, stressing the need for citizens to live out their faith both in public and private life.

He expressed concern over the security situation in parts of the country, commiserating with victims of violence, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal acts.

“The pain and losses suffered by many Nigerians remain a source of collective national grief,” he said, calling for greater cooperation among citizens and institutions to restore peace.

Yilwatda acknowledged efforts by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu  in addressing insecurity and stabilising the country, urging sustained collaboration among stakeholders.

He further encouraged Nigerians to use the Easter period as a time for prayer and national renewal.

“This is a time for prayer, reflection, and renewed hope. As Christians celebrate the resurrection of Christ, we must also pray for the renewal of our nation; for healing where there is pain, peace where there is conflict, and hope where there is despair,” he added.

Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future, Yilwatda said the country would overcome its challenges through faith, responsible leadership, and collective effort.

“May the message of Easter renew our faith, strengthen our unity, and inspire a brighter future for our dear country,” he said, wishing Nigerians a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Easter celebration.
