A Niger South Senatorial District aspirant, Architect Mohammed Rabi Sadiq, has pledged to bring people-centered legislation and grassroots development to the forefront if elected, declaring that his ambition is driven by passion, practical experience, and a deep connection with the people.

Sadiq made this known shortly after engaging with stakeholders of the influential G10 political group of Bida, Niger State at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham today, where aspirants were invited to present their visions and interact with party leaders and community figures.

“We are here for stakeholder engagement with the G10, which is a political integrity group based in Bida,” he said. “They invited all the aspirants to come and engage with them about our ambitions and what we have to offer the good people of Niger South Senatorial District.”

Speaking on his motivation to join the race, the young architect and entrepreneur said his decision was shaped by firsthand exposure to the impact of governance on ordinary citizens.

“I would say it’s passion. I have seen and noticed the problems in our society and community,” Sadiq stated. “As an entrepreneur in real estate, I’ve seen how good policies improve lives and how bad policies negatively affect people. Instead of just complaining, I decided to step in and contribute meaningfully.”

Highlighting his connection with the grassroots, Sadiq emphasized his longstanding community involvement through philanthropy and development initiatives.

“My connection with the people is very grassroots-based,” he said. “I have dedicated good percent of my profit to a foundation which operates from my hometown to directly impact rural communities.”

According to him, the foundation has supported projects such as boreholes, pipe-borne water, healthcare, and electricity transformers, all funded through private resources.

On his preparedness for legislative duties, the aspirant expressed confidence in his understanding of governance processes and policy-making.

“I would say I am more than prepared. Legislative work is about identifying the needs of the people and translating them into actionable policies(bill),” he explained. “Once you identify a problem, you develop it into a white paper, then a bill, and work with colleagues at the National Assembly to ensure it benefits not just your constituency but the entire country.”

He added that effective lawmakers must remain proactive in identifying policy gaps and pushing for necessary amendments to address emerging challenges.

“As a legislator, you must constantly be on your toes, spotting loopholes, addressing conflicts policies, and ensuring policies serve the people effectively,” Sadiq noted.

The engagement with the G10 group is part of ongoing consultations ahead of the political season in Niger State, as aspirants intensify efforts to secure stakeholder support and articulate their development agendas.
