CCS Ugbo Visits OPHK, Tasks Commanders on Safeguarding Communication Infrastructures

The Commander Corps of Signals (CCS), Major General Nosakhare Ugbo, has paid an operational assessment visit to the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), urging commanders to protect critical communication infrastructures for enhanced operational effectiveness.
The visit, which took place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, was in line with the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, to strengthen communication support in counter-insurgency operations across the North East.
Speaking during the assessment, Maj Gen Ugbo according to a press release e-signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI said his mission was to evaluate the installation, maintenance, and protection of ICT infrastructures in the theatre, while interfacing with stakeholders and conducting on-the-spot evaluations of ongoing projects.
“These assets are vital to sustaining effective coordination and command systems. I urge commanders to maintain and protect installed ICT facilities, communication equipment and other enablers. The Corps of Signals will continue to deliver robust and innovative communication solutions to aid the fight against terrorism,” Maj Gen Ugbo assured.
In his remarks, the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, applauded the foresight and innovative drive of the Commander Corps of Signals, describing communication as “the backbone of successful operations.”
He stressed that OPHK was committed to ensuring that all communication infrastructures remain protected.
“We will safeguard every critical installation to guarantee sustained operational effectiveness in the interest of regional and national security,” Maj Gen Abubakar said, expressing optimism that the visit would positively impact the overall success of Operation HADIN KAI.
Earlier, Commander 57 Signal Brigade, Brigadier General Nelson Okafor, briefed the CCS on the activities of his brigade under OPHK. He highlighted the progress recorded in the deployment of ICT projects across the theatre, noting that these efforts had significantly boosted command and control functions.
The visit featured operational briefs, signing of the visitors’ book, exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs with Sector and Component Commanders, as well as Principal Staff Officers of OPHK.
