Ebonyi ADC Approves Suspension Of Silas Onu, Gets Governorship, Other Aspirants For 2027 Election

The Ebonyi State Executive Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has ratified the suspension of Barrister Silas Onu, who was earlier suspended from his Obiozara Ward over alleged anti-party activities, gross misconduct, fictionalization of party structures and a breach of the party’s constitution and electoral act.
The letter of his suspension was read by the Secretary of the party, Comrade Chukwudi Mgboroko, during the state executive committee meeting held at the party’s secretariat along the old Abakaliki-Enugu road.
He explained that the reason for the suspension of Onu for three months was based on his Onu’s action,emphasizing his action was capable of bring the party to disrepute and destabilizing it.
The letter read in part, “Your actions caused significant commotion and brought the Ebonyi State ADC into disrepute at the National. You have been seen in public events, newspapers, social media, parading yourself as the elected chairman of ADC Ebonyi State, unknown to this world.

In reality, the Ward leaders of ADC, Obiozara Ward, have never met you before. You do not have any physical party card signed by the ward Chairman and Secretary. You took advantage of the online registration to perpetrate your deception of the public”, the Secretary said.
After a careful deliberation of the letter during the meeting by SEC members, motion to ratify Onu’s suspension was moved by the Ebonyi State ADC Coordinator, Electoral Matters/INEC Liaison, Bassey Imoke-Edogi and seconded by the State Auditor, Vincent Eze after which the it was unanimously adopted by the members.
He said, “I want to move that the suspension from Obiozara Ward in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi on the said Silas Onu be upheld and ractified today 25th April, 2026”, he said.
Speaking also, the Chairman of the Ebonyi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Mrs. Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor said members were expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the integrity and collective interest of the party.
According to the Chairman, the party finds the conduct of Onu to be a clear violation of the Constitution of the African Democratic Congress(ADC), and detrimental to the party unity, discipline, and orderly administration.
She said, “The said suspension was duly reviewed and ratified by the Ohaozara Local Government Area and after careful consideration and after the ratification done by the State Working Committee, where a motion was moved, seconded, and everybody affirmed the suspension, we find your conduct to be in clear violation of the Constitution of the African Democratic Congress and is detrimental to the party unity, discipline, and orderly administration”
Dr. Adibe-Nwafor went ahead to diaclose that Silas Onu has been barred from participating from the party’s activities and should desist forthwith from parading himself as as an official or representative of the party.
“The effect of this suspension accordingly, you are hereby suspended from all activities of the party at the ward, your local government, state, and national level.
“You are hereby prohibited from holding or parading yourself as an official or representative of the party in any capacity. You are hereby barred from attending meetings, congresses, conventions, or any official gatherings of the party.
She added that the suspension which will last for three months remained in force pending further review of the outcome of the disciplinary committee.
“You are hereby denied of all your rights and privileges according to membership of the party for the duration of this suspension. This suspension shall remain in force for a period of three months pending further review and the outcome of the ongoing and subsequent disciplinary committee proceedings in line with the party constitution”, she stated.
The Chairman further disclosed that ahead of the party primaries, members have declared interest to contest for various elective positions, including the governorship, senatorial, house of representatives and assembly.
