The Federal Government has signed fresh contract agreements with four construction firms for the execution of major road projects across Nigeria as part of efforts to modernise the nation’s transport infrastructure and stimulate economic development.

This was disclosed in a press release issued by the Federal Ministry of Works and signed by Mohammed A. Ahmed, Director of Information and Public Relations.

The contracts, signed at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja, cover strategic road projects in Kaduna, Oyo, Ogun, and Osun states under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, described the projects as critical national infrastructure aimed at improving transportation efficiency, boosting commerce, and strengthening national integration.

“Our vision is to build roads that will last for generations. Under the Renewed Hope administration, we are determined to deliver infrastructure that can serve Nigerians for up to 100 years through the adoption of rigid pavement technology,” Umahi stated.

He noted that the reconstruction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road in Kaduna State fulfills one of President Tinubu’s campaign promises and reflects the administration’s commitment to durable infrastructure.

The projects awarded include the reconstruction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road by Messrs J. Patel and Sons Nigeria Limited, the dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road by Messrs JRB Construction Company Limited, the Osogbo–Ikirun–Akoda Road project by Truecrete Solutions Limited, and the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited.

Umahi commended the selected firms for their competence and previous performance, especially indigenous contractors handling strategic projects nationwide.

“The Federal Government has confidence in the capacity of indigenous contractors to deliver quality projects that meet international standards,” he said.

The Minister also directed the contractors to immediately mobilise to site and ensure timely execution of the projects.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Rafiu Olarinre Adeladan, said the signing marked the successful completion of procurement processes and the commencement of implementation.

He assured that the ministry would ensure strict monitoring, quality control, and timely delivery of all projects.

Also speaking, the Director of Highways, Construction and Rehabilitation, Clement Ogbuagu, presented details of the contracts, which collectively run into hundreds of billions of naira.

According to him, all projects will be executed using Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement technology to guarantee durability and sustainability.

The Federal Government said the projects represent another major step toward modernising Nigeria’s road network and accelerating socio-economic development across the country.
