Two young Nigerians, Maryam and Muhammad, have emerged among the 50 winners of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’an Competition in Saudi Arabia, beating stiff competition from hundreds of contestants drawn from across the globe.

The development was disclosed in a statement signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director, Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), on behalf of the Commission.

The competition attracted 334 contestants from 133 countries, bringing together some of the world’s finest Qur’an memorizers and reciters in one of the most prestigious international Qur’anic competitions.

“Congratulations, Maryam and Muhammad. Nigeria is proud of you,” Dabiri-Erewa said.
