2027: Ebonyi APC Chairman Inaugurates 62 PUM Executives, Says ‘No Vacancy’ in Government House

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro Emegha, has inaugurated more than 62 executives, members of the Board of Trustees and liaison officers of the Polling Unit Mobilisation for FON (PUM), a grassroots support group working for the re-election of Governor Francis Nwifuru in the 2027 governorship election.
Emegha, who spoke through the APC South-East? zonal chairman, Ebonyi South, Alhaji Ernest Nweze, during the inauguration held at Re-Meritona Hotels and Suites, Abakaliki, declared that there would be no vacancy in the Ebonyi State Government House in 2027.
Nweze, who was accompanied by the APC zonal chairmen for Ebonyi North and Central, urged party supporters and residents to disregard what he described as attempts by political detractors to undermine the administration of Governor Nwifuru.
He also dismissed claims surrounding possible governorship ambitions from Ebonyi South, describing some of the political activities in the zone as largely driven by what he termed “content creators.”
Emegha charged the newly inaugurated PUM officials to intensify grassroots mobilisation and work towards securing support for Governor Nwifuru’s re-election in the 2027 election.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of PUM, Ogbuefi Zaccheaus Ifeuwabundidi, unveiled a strategic framework aimed at establishing a formidable grassroots mobilisation network across the state.
Ifeuwabundidi said the organisation would establish structures in every polling unit, with a minimum of 10 mobilisation units assigned to each polling unit across Ebonyi.
According to him, the mobilisation strategy would involve door-to-door, farm-to-farm, market-to-market and church-based engagements, with the achievements of Governor Nwifuru serving as the major campaign platform.
He said the group’s decision to mobilise support for the governor was based on what he described as his administration’s “verifiable performance and sterling leadership anchored on the People’s Charter of Needs.”
The coordinator said PUM had also established directorates responsible for strategy and planning, security, inter-party affairs, medical services, media and publicity, contact and mobilisation, as well as monitoring and evaluation.
Addressing debates over zoning and possible candidates from Ebonyi South, Ifeuwabundidi, who is from the zone, maintained that Governor Nwifuru should be allowed to complete two terms in office.
“Our decision to mobilize for the re-election of His Excellency is not based on sentiment, but on verifiable performance and his sterling leadership anchored on the People’s Charter of Needs,” he said.
Also speaking, the member representing Onicha Constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Ifeanyi Ogba, called for unity among APC members, saying the governor’s achievements would be central to the party’s campaign.
Ogba listed scholarship programmes and the construction of more than 675 kilometres of roads, among other projects, as some of the achievements he said could influence voters’ decisions in the 2027 election.
Responding, the PUM Liaison Officer, Godwin Aliuna, said the organisation had the capacity to mobilise voters across communities and polling units in the state.
Aliuna expressed confidence in the group’s grassroots structure and said it would work to secure support for Governor Nwifuru ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
