The MD/CEO, Transmission Company of Nigeria, Usman Gur Mahammed at the July edition of the Nextier Power Dialogue exhaustively did justice to enhancing robust power sector in Nigeria. Nextier Power Dialogue is a monthly power sector forum featuring panel session with audience participation aimed at redefining, redirecting and repositioning the Nigeria power ( electricity) sector for efficiency and effectiveness. Nextier Power Dialogue as a platform bring government, industries, stakeholders, consumers and other major players in the sector together for a discourse and solutions to some major issues in the sector. The July edition with the theme ” Evaluating the Transmission Link for A Competitive Electricity Market” hosting The MD/CEO, Transmission Company of Nigeria, Usman Gur Mahammed and Former Nigeria Electricity Regulation Commission, Dr. Samuel Amadi as panalist while Patrick Okigbo lll moderates the discussion. Usman Gur Mahammed said the power generated by the Nigeria Transmission Company is higher than what is consumed internally hence the sense to supply other countries to generate fund for government adding that while some of the supplies to other countries is strictly economic, others is obligatory in fulfilment of agreement entered. He lamented the situation wherein the the distribution companies can not receive and distribute the megawatts generated due to lack of capacity. Usman Gur Mohammed, sharing in the pain of exploitative bill suffered by Nigerians noted that there is no correlation with poverty and electricity citing that the acclaimed poor who are denied metres are extremely exploits using the estimated billing system therefore appeals and enjoins distribution companies to intensify efforts toward making metres available to all electricity using household in the country.
