HON. GODDAY SAMUEL DEFEATS HON. ADEMU ENTONU AT APPEAL COURT

  Peter Ochohepo September 16, 2019 The National Assembly elections appeal court sitting in Makurdi has upheld the election of Hon. Godday Samuel of Labour Party as the winner of the House of Representatives elections for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency held on the 23rd February and 9th March 2019.

In the judgement delivered on the 16th of September, 2019, the court struck out Ademu’s appeal on the grounds of lack of substantial evidence to prove his allegation of electoral malpractices. The court further ordered Hon. Ademu Entonu to pay the sum of one hundred thousand naira only (N100,000:00) as damages to Hon Godday Samuel.

In his reaction to the appeal court judgement, Hon. Godday Samuel said “The voice of the people is the voice of God”. He said all power belongs to the Most High God, and God gives it to whosoever He likes. Hon. Godday thanked Apa and Agatu people for their unflinching support towards, during and after the elections. He re-stated his promise of ensuring effective representation in the House of Representatives and bringing real development to the people.
