DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONALS: APRIL 6TH MORAL QUALITIES OF A CHRISTAIN 3. GENEROSITY (Part 2) Scripture Reading: Psalm 36: 5 – 9; Acts 20: 35.

Spread the love

God’s faithfulness is not dependent on anything we do or fail to do (1 Tim 2: 13); and it is for this reason we can trust that His promises are true and His intentions towards us are perfect. We must believe too that Jesus will return for us. He has proven Himself faithful in all ramifications.

Generosity is an opportunity to serve the purpose of the Creator. Our generosity towards others is a tool which God uses to create prosperity for us; we are lending ourselves and our capabilities as vehicles for the Lord’s work. If we give them to Him, God will use our talents, our time, our resources and everything about us to do His work on earth. By sharing what we have with others, we are giving gift to God.

The Bible reminds us that, life on earth is uncertain and nothing is guaranteed, but when we put our hope in God’s provision, we can be rest assured that He will provide for our needs. Giving to others helps us tangibly to practice trusting in God rather than our riches or belongings.
What do you have that has not been given to you by God? In 1 Corinthians 4: 7, the Bible says, “For who maketh thee to differ from another? And what hast thou that thou didst not receive? Now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it? Who made you superior to others? Didn’t God give you everything you have?” Tim Keller said, “The more you see yourself as spiritually poor and the recipient of God’s wonderful grace the more your heart is going to go out to the poor”

The economy of God runs on resources that are not measurable, but create abundance when harvested. The example of this is love. Giving love does not result in less love for someone else, giving love only creates more love; the same is true with generosity. By contributing to the things in the world that create abundance, we are satisfying His design. We are encouraging compassion, love and generosity to flourish, and create further abundance.

Always remember that our time, money, talents, resources and life itself were all given to us as gift from God; He gave us these gifts so we may use it to bless others. Appreciate the many gifts the Lord has given you as an individual by sharing them with others; return them to Him because your act of generosity is definitely going to be rewarded with His blessings.

Allow yourself to be inspired by the plenty that has been given to you by God. Let your love, faith and gratitude fuel you to give generously. By doing so, you allow yourself to serve His purpose, by creating abundance in the world.

Prayer:

Oh Lord God, make me a recipient of your grace for prosperity, so that I will be able to give out to the poor and less privilege people around me.
