DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONALS: APRIL 17TH TOPIC: The Manifestation of God’s Presence (1). Scripture Reading: Psalms 139: 7 – 10; 2 Corinthians 6: 16.
The Bible begins and ends with a God who desires to dwell with His people from Adam and Eve in the Garden, to the Virgin birth of Jesus Christ; the image of the invisible God who became flesh and dwelt among us. To when God sent His Holy Spirit to live in us and carry His presence everywhere we go. The stories in the Bible are full of our God moving heaven and earth to be with His people because of His great love.
The devotional of yesterday revealed to us one of the characteristics of God which is “The Omnipresence of God”. That God is present everywhere at all times. That even when we sinned, and want to run and hide from God; we cannot escape His Omnipresence. That as believers, Jesus Christ is the presence of God, living in us through the Holy Spirit. That the Spirit of God now dwells within us the same way the tabernacle and the Temple housed the presence of God in the old testament (2 Cor.6: 16).
How can you know with confidence if you’re experiencing God’s presence in your life? Firstly, one of the ways we are reminded of his presence with us is through the beauty of His creation. “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handwork” (Psa.19:1). Secondly, it will depend on the individual level of relationship with God. There are times when we experience God in special ways, in clear and convincing ways.
Even though God manifest His presence in diverse ways, but it must always agree with the scriptures. Some may see visions or hear God’s voice, it may be through a song or a scripture that comes to mind through the leading of the Holy Spirit. When we focus on spending time with God in prayers, praising Him and loving Him wholeheartedly; His presence will flow naturally. And you experience feelings of peace and joy that are beyond words.
Prayer:
Oh Lord, take me to that level in my relationship with you where I can experience you personally.
