In our discussion of wasted opportunity, we harp on some facts that wasting one’s opportunity results into regrettable circumstances most of the time. This is the focus of this devotional. Wasted opportunities have their lamentable, dreadful or fatal results. Tragedy of wasted opportunity points at saying that every wasted opportunity produces event resulting in great lose or misfortune. We have to see two people who wasted their opportunities and ended up in tragedy. One is Adam in the Garden of Eden and the other King Rehoboam. Adam was given opportunity to head all things God created. He was given opportunity to free foods and meets as well as ensuring that he and his wife never eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Eating of the fruit will not only bring death to them but will cost Adam the noble position. He wasted the opportunity and was sent out of the Garden of Eden.

After the death of King Solomon, his son Rehoboam was given an opportunity to rule his people. All the elders accepted him and met with him to let him know what the wrongs of his father were. He was given wonderful advice on what to do to become a successful ruler over them (1 Kings 12: 6 – 14). King Rehoboam lost the opportunity by calling his age grade members for their counsels. He was counselled wrongly against the elders’ advice. He wasted the opportunity and tragedy of losing ten kingdoms was his reward. Adam lost the headship of the Garden of Eden, driven into the bush to labour before eating. It is a tragedy. King Rehoboam lost the ten Northern Kingdom of Israel to his father’s servant, Jeroboam. What a tragedy! Many human beings are still losing opportunity of receiving Salvation from Jesus to gain peaceful and precious life. Some Christians on their part have wasted their opportunities by not being what they are made to be in Christ.

For some of us Christians, we have wasted opportunities of being for God alone and abide by all He asked to be. We have gone too deep into the world doing worst evil than the so called unbelievers and have earned ourselves tragedies of reduced divine protections. Many of us denied the power of God and therefore, fallen prey to the forces of darkness tossing us ups and downs. It is a tragedy. The power of God that cut open the Red Sea is still available. The power of God that consumed those sent to arrest Prophet Elijah is still available. Our problems these days are wasted opportunity of the Believers’ Authorities” Jesus handed over to the Apostles. The present laws by nations against Christians are reflection of tragedy of wasted opportunities. But we can get things right again if we want!

PRAYER:

FATHER LORD, I desire the power of the early Apostles and their high level sanctification to regain my wasted opportunity of moving with your authority and power in Jesus name.
