DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: FEBRUARY 21 WHILE MEN SLEPT (3) Scripture: John 13: 25; 1 Thess. 5: 6 – 8; Prov. 24: 21

Spread the love

We have come to the third and last series of this discussion, “While Men Slept.” From the focus of this devotional series, we have known that the tares are those in the church and the society with degenerated characters destroying them. The wheats are to be taken as the law abiding people following principles of godliness and righteousness. We have also been told that the sleeping men and women are those in powers and in authority saddled with responsibilities to put things right but failed to do so.

This devotional is set to point at very few areas people slept, that is, refused to be watchful till they paid dearly for it. Many disastrous events have taken while men slept:

1. The British made three attempts to take over Quebec, the French Headquarters in Canada. But the French people repelled them. The French Governor in Quebec felt safe and wrote a letter to his friend saying “We are no longer concerned about the security of Quebec.” In September 12, 1759, the British scaled the north wall along St. Lawrence Seaway. At early dawn they overcome the France forces because their men slept.

2. General Washington did win the victory for American Independence when men slept. Around the Christmas time in 1776, uncertainty for getting the independence from the British power was still at its peak. But General Washington gathered 2,500 men, led them across the Delaware River at Trent, New Jersey in December 26, 1776. Launched a gorilla war on the British soldiers. The British were defeated. The American independence was won.

3. American leaders became magnanimous. They trained many nationals on security matters within. One of the trained people, as rumor had it, was Osama Bin Laden. American security watchdogs closed their eyes to see Osama Bin Laden’s body language. In September 11, 2001 the World Trade Center in New York was bombed. It was alleged that Osama Bin Laden master minded the plans.

4. Politically, the earliest political gladiators never had “politics of bitterness” like what we are witnessing today. Over the years, few individual politicians imported politics of bitterness, introduced political violent, hate, self-imposed elections and gave us the evils in politics bedeviling us today. This is because men and women slept.

5. Socially, agitators for human rights first had good intentions. As time goes on, different minded people began importing “human rights” where people can go naked in the streets; same sex marriage must be allowed. Others include transgender freedom, gay, lesbianism, beastialism etc. People to tackle this from onset slept.Today the world is in trouble over unnatural behaviours of men and women.

6. In the religious circles, leaders slept over when all sort of doctrines and radical teachings are being imported into the godly ones. This featured in all the major religions.Today, religious crisis and violence is causing more trouble globally than other things.

The few cited examples are what happen “While Men Slept.” It causes damages in everything in the world. As for us Christians, we are told not to meddle with those who are given to rebellion (Prov. 24: 21). We must rebuke those sowing tares among the wheats in the churches. We must rebuke the wicked for them to turn a new leaf, so that the “good blessing will come on them” (Prov. 24: 25).

PRAYERS:

1. Pray that God gives the world the right eyes to see the evils going on in the society in Jesus name.
2. Ask God to dismantle the satanic altars blocking our eyes from seeing how rotten the world has become in Jesus name.

POSITIVE CONFESSION

I am a seed of righteousness and light. I am overcoming darkness in my life. Praise God!
