
1 Year In Office: Benue Deputy Speaker Lami Congratulates Alia On Outstanding Achievements As Benue Governor
The Deputy Speaker of the Benue State 10th Assembly, Chief Hon. Mrs Lami Danladi Ogenyi, has congratulated the Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Ph’D, on his flying colours score card as his administration mark a year in office today.
Chief Lami, in a goodwill message expressed satisfaction with the Governor on his proactive leadership style which has put Benue on the right track of development as evidently seen in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the State.
Remarkably, the 4th Citizen of the State according to a press statement e-signed by her Press Secretary, Agbaji Samuel Atsonwu gave cognizance to the efforts of the Governor in eliminating corrupt and over bloated wage bill of the state, towards prompt payment of workers’ salaries and wages which he has being executing since assuming Office since 29th May, 2023.
She noted “I’m excited that, His Excellency, Gov Alia, has within his one year in office, never relented in prompt payment of salaries to civil servants in the state. With the transparent, accountable and prudent management of state resources brought back by His Excellency, we have witnessed payment of arrears of salaries of civil servants in the state, given the current audit of the wage bill”.
In the area of infrastructural development, the Lawmaker pointed out the construction of over 16 major Roads within Makurdi metropolis, giving the state Capital a facelift, as well as the construction of roads linking the rural areas with the Urban center.
The Deputy Speaker said that with the Governor’s eye for creating wealth for the state, the Benue Investment And Property Company, BIPC has since laid the roadmap to many long term investments that would create jobs for thousands of youths and significantly increase the IGR of the state.
On the efforts made by His Excellency in creating the right working environment for public servants in the state, the Deputy Speaker made reference to the swift rehabilitation of the Benue State House of Assembly Complex, the SUBEB office, and the State Civil Service Secretariat from their dilapidated state.
In the area of youth empowerment and skills acquisition, Chief Lami commended the Gov Alia’s Ecosystem Benue Tech Skills Phase I, that would see 2000 Youths, trained to be self employed, capable of working legitimately online from Benue, giving Info-Tech services to any part of the world.
On attempts made so far by Gov Alia to increase food production in the state, the Deputy Speaker appreciated Gov. Alia for the continued procurement of NPK Fertilizers to Benue Farmers at a highly subsidized rate.
