DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JULY 5 FACTS ABOUT BEING BORN AGAIN (1) SCRIPTURE: Romans 8: 14; 2 Cor. 5: 17
The last two days were devoted to principles of new birth in Christ. In order not to lose the track of issues of being born again, we will be looking into “facts about being born again”. There are about seven or eight facts to note when talking of New Birth (born again) in Christian life. Our prayer for the readers is “good understanding of the points raised.” They are laid down as moved by the Great Teacher, the Holy Spirit of God.
First, being born again is in both moral and spiritual change but not in a physical change. Many people have misconstrued that being born again changes the way we laugh, talk, feel, hungry as well as feeling pains. True born again is seen in our moral changes and Spiritual dependences. Morally, all things that satisfied the flesh before will no longer satisfy the flesh. Rather than being led by the Spirit of self or the spirit of the world, the born again is led by the Spirit of God (Rom. 8: 14). This forms the reason why when one is born again, his or moral components no longer give ways for immorality; and the entire thoughts and actions are under the control of the Holy Spirit.
Second, being born again evidences in change of heart, will, motives, desires etc. When one is born again, all biological organisms remain unchanged. A born again person still retains the natural look and the sex one is born with. What this means is that, a born again female remains female, so it is with a born again male. The physical features do not change either. True born again is seen in change of heart, will, motives, desires etc. For instances, a man of hardened heart who does not know how to symphatise with humans begins to do so after being born again. A lover of street fighting becomes morally shy to fight after being born again.
Applied Bible puts this plain: “Therefore if any person is engrafted in Christ, the Messiah, he is a new creation; the old (previous moral and spiritual condition has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new life is come.” (2 Cor. 5: 17). Here is a great question for us Christians claiming having been born again. How morally and spiritually upright are we? Who controls the vacuums of our bodies; is it our natural mind that determines our wants or the Holy Spirit mindedness?
PRAYER:
BLESSED FATHER, send into my heart today, the presence of the Holy Spirit. Let my heart, will, motives and desires be in total control of the Holy Spirit through Christ Jesus my Lord. Amen.
POSITIVE DECLARATION:
I give my spirit, my heart, will, motives and desires all to Jesus Christ today. The living Christ will be seen in me. Glory and Amen!!
