
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin Mobilizes State Assembly to End Malnutrition and Food Insecurity, Harps on collaboration with Stakeholders and Expert

In an intensive frontier to ending malnutrition and food insecurity in the country, the Chairman of Conference of Speakers of state Legislatures, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has mobilized his Speakers colleagues from all states on bi-legislative collaboration with stakeholders and experts in driving actions for nutrition and food security.
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin who co-chaired the inauguration of National Legislative Network on Nutrition & Food Security and workshop for Chairmen & clerk of the newly created State Houses of Assembly Committees on Nutrition & Food Security at the House of Representatives wing of National Assembly today Monday reaffirm the commitment of the conference of Speakers of state legislature, harps on collective work with stakeholders and experts towards a common goal of eradicating malnutrition and the promotion of food security across our great nation.
“It gives me the greatest pleasure to address you today as the Chairman of the Conference of State Speakers on the occasion of the inauguration of the National Legislative Network on Nutrition & Food Security and workshop for Chairmen and Clerks of the newly created State Houses of Assembly’s Committees on Nutrition & Food Security.

Recalling his role in the Owerri retreat, he said “I was honored to have played a vital role during the retreat in Owerri, where we, the Speakers of the 36 State Houses of Assembly, Members of the Federal House of Representatives’ Committee on Nutrition and Food Security and other relevant stakeholders deliberated on crucial issues pertaining to the well-being of our Nation, particularly in the areas of Nutrition and Food Security.

“The retreat in Owerri was an extraordinary event that brought together leaders from various State Houses of Assembly, fostering unity and synergy among us. It provided a platform for fruitful discussions and the sharing of best practices in addressing the challenges of malnutrition and food insecurity in our respective states.
Appreciating the leadership of the House and the committee, Adebo said
“I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to the Chairman of the Federal House of Representatives’ Committee on Nutrition and Food Security Hon. Chike John Okafor, PhD for his tireless and proactive efforts in driving the committee in the right direction. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping the committee’s vision and goals, and I commend him for his dedication and commitment to this important cause. I also extend my gratitude to the Speaker of the House of Representatives His Excellency, Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas, PhD for creating the Committee on Nutrition and Food Security as well as appointing a visionary leader as its Chairman.This demonstrates the Hon Speaker’s commitment to addressing the critical issues of malnutrition and food insecurity in our nation.
Pledges his unwavering support to the Network and its Work Plan. “I am fully committed to galvanizing my esteemed colleagues across the country to leverage on the legislative framework to meet the mandate of the committee in our respective states. I am proud to see the collaboration between the National Assembly and the State Houses of Assembly. This network will facilitate a unified approach to monitoring and implementing projects in nutrition and food security, ensuring that we meet our set objectives.

“We recognize that legislative action is crucial in driving the necessary reforms and policies to address these pressing issues. By working together, we can enact laws and implement measures that empower our people, protect vulnerable populations, and ensure access to nutritious food for all.I call upon all members of the National Legislative Network on Nutrition & Food Security to leverage our collective expertise, resources, and influence to drive positive change.

The Inauguration climaxed with the Investiture of the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, PhD as the Patron of the National Legislative Network on Nutrition and Food Security
and the presentation of a plaque to the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Benjamin Kalu who represented Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass at the Inauguration ceremony.
