DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONALS: AUGUST 2 GROWING APATHY TOWARD GOD’S WORDS (2) SCRIPTURE: EXOD. 20: 13; MARK 12: 30-31; LEV. 25: 35-36

God’s Words as He decreed, gave under instructions and commandments, spoken through the Prophets and through His Written Bible and Christian literatures are for human beings to obey and use as their guides. It is not funny that many people started disobeying God’s words right from the cradle of the world. He then sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world to be a “Living Word of God.” This means Jesus came as God’s Words Personified. He came to tell the world exactly Who God is, the real explanations of God’s Commands and His other spoken words. He sent Jesus so that when Jesus is speaking, the world will be seeing God physically through Him. Jesus said this in the Bible that: “If you have seen me you have seen the Father” (John 14: 8-9). Jesus again was hated, rejected, accused and killed. *The fact about life is that without abiding by the Words of God, lives will be meaningless, though many will refuse this claim.

This devotional agrees with the Psalmist who said “The fool says in his heart that there is no God” (Psa. 14: 1). Those who feel there is no God refuse to hear God or do what God says. They pass to be called fools because is only a fool who argues on facts. There are millions and millions of facts in the earth which show there is God. Whether scientific proofs or whatever proofs, there are facts showing there is God who those with wisdom should accept as their Father. It is surprising how some people behave towards the Words of God. God’s Laws when looked at critically favour the good of mankind. God says we should not kill ourselves (Exod. 20: 13; Deut. 5: 17). How offensive is this law? God’s word says we should love Him with all our hearts and love our neigbhours as we love ourselves (Deut. 6: 5; Mark 12: 30 – 31). Can this be offensive? One of God’s instructions is that we should help the poor among us (Lev. 25: 35-36). Can anyone prove how absurd is this statement that someone will hate God’s Words?

God created every human being for an egalitarian (having equal rights) system. The Words of God instructed human beings to be relating with each other as fellow creature and behave as one from one family, both the Christians, and all human beings. This could of course, ignites hating God’s Words because many people do not like being placed side by side with others because of ego. And again, is only the fools that can behave like this! In a very sincere and practical term, there is nothing in the Words of God that human being can oppose to or reject as not important to him or her. Those reading the Bible know that the Bible which is the Word of God contains issues of life. The Bible contains all knowledge about human beings and issues of life. This means everything needed to keep our life on balance.

PRAYER:

BLESSED FATHER, I now know that refusing to believe in your words makes me a fool and a disobedient person. Give me the willingness to accommodate your Words richly in my heart and mind as from today, in Jesus name.
