DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: SEPTEMBER 12 AND GOD SAVED JEHOSHAPHAT SCRIPTURE: 1 KINGS 22: 1 – 5, 30, 32 – 34

Spread the love

We are living in a world full of people of deceptive minds. We have our most intimate person killing us without knowing at times. It is no surprise that the Bible said one’s greatest enemy is found in his/her very family hood (Michal 7: 5). Today, we hear stories of how brother sells sister to killers, husbands do same to wives and wives do same to husbands as they kill each for rituals. Today, no house help can be trusted, not even a spiritual leader.

Today’s devotional presents, in brief, how God delivered King Jehoshaphat from evil betrayal of King Ahab. King Ahab then was king over Israel while King Jehoshaphat was king over Judah. Ordinarily, the two Kings ought to be close so as to collectively defend the land of Israel. King Jehoshaphat paid visit to King Ahab. At the course of discussion, Ahab requested King Jehoshaphat to follow him to the battle against the King of Syria. To this, King Jehoshaphat willingly agreed.

At this point, King Ahab has sinned against God severally, and, Prophets have told him God would destroy him. The two Kings made further consultations with some Prophets; amongst them was Prophet Micaiah who told King Ahab that he saw Israelites running scatteredly in the battle field. This signifies defeat on their side. King Ahab, with mind of intrigue or betrayal, asked King Jehoshaphat to dress in kingly attire to the battle while he will disguise himself (1 Kings 22: 30).

This means, should the war turns against them, King Jehoshaphat would be the main target of the enemies. This came to play (1 Kings 32-33). However, God came to the aid of King Jehoshaphat. An enemy shooting his arrows randomly got King Ahab. Ahab could not survive. He died toward the evening of the same day. What this translates to in today’s devotional is that, the God who saved King Jehoshaphat can save those who faithfully serve Him still today.

You reading this devotional today might be next on line to escape evil plans of your enemies. Strange arrows, spears, swords as well as bullets fashioned against you today will be deflected towards who are your betrayals in Jesus name. Your divine coverage will not end today but has been extended to years ahead of you in Jesus name. The Bible says: “Behold, they shall surely gather, but not by me: whoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for your sake” (Isa. 54: 15 KJV). King Ahab would have possibly concluded in his heart that Jehoshaphat was not going to come out alive from the battle. Ahab was disappointed. I declare total disappointment on every plan of your enemies upon you today in Jesus name!!

PRAYERS:

1. Give God powerful prayers of thanksgiving today; over your life and those of your family for divine deliverance.
