FULANI ATTACK: ADO LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN VISITED RECUPERATING VICTIM IN THE HOSPITAL

The Chairman of Ado Local Government Council, Engr. Sunny Oche in his pursuit for the well being of Adolites beat his schedules for Community Health Center Ukwonyo, Utonkon where he visited Mrs. Catherine Ajogi who was attacked by a Fulani man in the early hours of November 2nd, 2024.

The Chairman proceeded straight to the hospital soon after his arrival to his country home from an official trip having received report of the incident . He was in the hospital at the instance of the Councilor representing Ukwonyo ward who doubles as the Majority Leader of Ado Legislative House, Hon. Barr. Ede Ojoko Francis in the presence of Comrade Jude Uche, the Publicity Secretary of the apex Socio-cultural body of the Ufia people, the Ufia Development Association (UDA).

Mrs. Catherine Ajogi, two young men and another woman had visited the bushes to fetch fire wood around Ogbuga farm settlement and to harvest some snails from the Okonoji River before they were confronted by a lone Fulani man. Upon sighting the daredevil, they took to their heels. It was while they were trying to escape to safety that the victim stumbled and fell and was abandoned by the other three who fled for their lives.

She was brutally attacked with a matchet and suffered a blow on her head. The sharp matchet slit her head, which caused her to suffer loss of blood as a result.

As she was battling with her life and reeling in pain, the Fulani man attempted to rape her. She gathered enough strength and courage and was able to escape the rape attempt. Knowing that those who escaped would have raised an alarm and the men would mobilize and come for her rescue, the suspected Fulani man abandoned her and escaped unarrested.

Mrs Catherine was taken to the hospital without delays and she is receiving medical attention. The Local Government Chairman was very satisfied that she was recuperating very fast. After interacting with her, Engr. Oche made a cash donation to support her hospital bills.

Thereafter, the compassionate Local Government Chairman Engr. Sunny Oche according to press statement e-signed by his Principal Private Secretary, Innocent Igelle put a call across to the Ado Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mr. Cosmos Tsa, with a charge on him to incident the matter for further investigation to bring the perpetrator to book. Engr. Sunny Oche pleaded with the locals to be a little patient now that his government is still new with a promise to make Ado safe.
