Yesterday we witnessed the leadership Newspaper management team led by the Vice Chairman Mr Mike Okpere confer on His Excellency Pastor Umo eno the Governor of the Year award. This award is truly a reflection of truth and not the usual paid for hype often witnessed on some undeserving individuals done by organizations with little or no dignity but not so with the leadership newspaper team.
A careful look into the life of Pastor umo Eno and his approach to leadership compelled pundits to believe that this golden Governor is worth a course study which many believe must have convinced the leadership newspaper to bestow on him the deserving Governor of the Year award.

When receiving the Leadership Newspaper Award for Governor of the Year, Pastor Umo Eno said, “Like I said last week during our valedictory dinner, we just had to rejig. If the reason for rejigging was lack of performance, I don’t think I would have dissolved the exco, because they did a fantastic job and all that hardwork culminated in this award.”
He also emphasized the importance of being watched and the need to do more, saying, “For a first time Governor, barely 20 months in office, honestly this is not what I would ordinarily expect, and for you to have done your analyses and looked closely, it shows that we are being watched. This award will ginger us to do more, now that we know we are on the national stage.”
In addition, Pastor Umo Eno highlighted his understanding of the people’s yearnings, stating, “I understand clearly the yearnings of the people. I have been on the other side and I have mingled with the people and I know their expectations. Being in Government gives me the privilege of trying to address the yearnings of the ‘popular side’.”
He attributed his success to his Bottom – Top approach to leadership, saying, “That informed my decision to adopt a Bottom – Top approach to leadership, people in the rural community must feel the impact of Government.”
