Deputy Speaker Lami Restores Water Source to Ivetse Community

The Hon. Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Chief Hon. Mrs. Lami Danlady Ogenyi has restored the long abandoned water source in Ivetse community of Agila district, Ado LGA, Benue State.

The residents of the community on Friday, 21st February, 2025, were seen celebrating the restoration of the water source, says their years of suffering from water scarcity has finally came to an end. Expressed the timely intervention of the Honourable Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Chief Hon Mrs Lami Danladi Ogenyi.

The borehole, according to findings serves as the sole source of potable water for the community but had been left in a dilapidated state for years, subjecting the residents to untold hardship in obtaining water for their daily needs.

Relief finally came to the people when, yesterday, all faulty parts were replaced with new ones, and the borehole  restored to a functional state.

Pan Afric Reporters also gathered that the Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker, Comrade Agbaji Samuel Atsonwu, who hails from the said Ivetse community, had earlier in the month drawn the attention of his principal, the Deputy Speaker, to the untold hardship suffered by  the people resulting from lack of water in the community.

Chief Hon Mrs Lami Danladi Ogenyi, in her disposition as a humanitarian who believes in the welfare of the people swiftly and promptly instructed an engineer to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the borehole and report back with the findings for immediate restoration.

Upon the assessment which  revealed that the borehole had been left in a complete state of disrepair and would require a comprehensive overhaul. The Deputy Speaker without hesitation provided all necessary resources and restore the water source to a functional state, thereby throwing the people into endless jubilation.

This gesture by the Deputy Speaker underscores her dedication and commitment to the welfare of her constituents and delivering dividends of democracy to them.
