Breaking News: Ebonyi Governor Suspends Council Chairman, Orders Arrest of Six Commissioners Over Contract Breach
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has suspended the Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, Mr. Timothy Nwach, and ordered the immediate arrest of six commissioners for alleged breach of contract agreement and sabotage of state projects.
The affected commissioners include:
– Prof. Omari Omaka-(Tertiary Education)
-Victor Chukwu-(Environment)
–Ifeanyi Ogbuewu-(Culture and Tourism)
– Uchenna Igwe-(Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters)
-Dr. Moses Ekuma- (Health)
-Felix Igboke- (Project Monitoring)
The aforementioned government officials are accused of undermining the governor’s plan to commission 140 Housing Units in izzo and Ameze communities, a key project meant to mark his second anniversary in office.
Reports indicate that some of the commissioners and contractors linked to the project have absconded, raising suspicions of financial misconduct or deliberate delays.
The state Governor Nwifuru has also directed security agencies to apprehend the fleeing officials and contractors, vowing to enforce accountability in the execution of state projects.
