Spread the love

There are beautiful passages in the Bible assuring Christians of God’s readiness to answer the prayers of His children. There are also thousands and one people in the world with mixed feelings about the ways their prayers are not answered as expected. Due to prevailing circumstances so traumatic, depressing, heartbreaking and emotion eroding, many people had prayed and prayed for God’s interventions but the aftermath result turned negative. For instance, your close loved one is so sick and you prayed, fasted, sent out prayer requests for the person to live. Yet such died. Your conclusion will be that; God does not answer prayers. Many had left churches because of this type of scenario. Someone, based on our devotional recently posted, expressed how it seems like God does not answer prayers at several times. However, as we will be going through this devotional in series, we will see that God answers prayers.

The starting point for today’s devotional is on affirming that God’s Promises of answering the prayers of His people. We have passages such as (1) “Call upon me and I will answer you…” (Jer. 33: 3); (2) “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I am with him in trouble; and I will deliver him and honour him (Psa. 91: 15); (3) “ask and it shall be given to you” (Matt. 7: 7). God even promised the Israelites that after He severely punished third of her population, and the remaining people call upon His name, He answer them and again tells them they are His people (Zechariah 13: 9). As a matter of truth, all human beings have had reasons to think and conclude that God seems not answering prayers as should.

As humans, no one is exempted from this experience. However, God answers prayers. The numbers of time He has answered your prayers, you reading this devotional, if stock is properly taken will amaze you. One songs writer said we are to count our blessings and name them one by one. The findings will surprise such a person on discovering how many times God answered prayers. There is this simple prayer God answers every day as many times as possible. The simple prayer is: “God have mercy!” Others were eating, and the food turned around to kill them. Others were driving their motor car by themselves to avoid accidents. A mere bursting of one of the tiers can result to killing them instantly. Many died on suffocation while sleeping using generating sets. Many others were killed by their dogs they have been friendly with through a minor mistake. The chains will go on and on. The question here is; how did you get here today? Don’t you think that the simple prayer of “God have mercy” is working? Can you and me now think differently today by counting our blessings instead of brooding over the very few areas God seemed not answered our prayers.

PRAYER:

JEHOVAH MY FATHER, kindly open the eyes of my mind to see areas you have answered my prayers in Jesus name. I want to say you have been very faithful to me.

POSITIVE DECLARATION:

I refuse from today to walk about with negative thoughts in my hearts. I see myself as God’s best favourites. Hallelujah!!!
