The Anambra State Police Command has earned widespread praise from community leaders, stakeholders, and traditional institutions for ensuring a peaceful and incident-free 2025 Imoka Festival, one of the state’s most significant cultural events.
Held annually in Awka, this year’s festival concluded without any reports of violence, cult-related activity, or public disorder. The feat has been attributed to the proactive measures taken by the Command, including a strategic deployment of joint security teams, strengthened intelligence operations, and enhanced community collaboration.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, DCP Ezekiel Ibrahim according to a press release e-signed by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga expressed deep gratitude to the people of Awka and festival organisers for their cooperation, discipline, and respect for the law.

“Our success is not just a police achievement but a community achievement,” said DCP Ibrahim. “We deeply value the trust and support of the public, which are essential for maintaining law and order.”
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining security across Anambra, particularly during cultural and social gatherings. He also underscored the need for continued public support and timely sharing of information to enhance community safety.

The Police Commissioner further emphasized that the Command will maintain its people-focused policing model, which promotes the protection of cultural values, peacebuilding, and the safeguarding of citizens’ rights.
The commendation marks a significant boost for the State Police’s efforts to build stronger ties with the public while ensuring a safe environment for all residents.
