Anambra Police Nab Suspected Armed Robber Linked to Separatist Group, Recover Stolen Car in Awka

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old suspected armed robber alleged to be a member of a separatist group, recovered a vehicle earlier reported stolen in Imo State.

Operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, apprehended the suspect, identified as Charles Chinonso, in the early hours of Sunday during a coordinated intelligence-led operation at Umuazu Village, Nise, in Awka South Local Government Area.

Police said the arrest followed a complaint from the victim, who reported that the car was snatched at the World Bank Housing Area in Owerri West LGA of Imo State. Acting on credible technological intelligence, officers traced the vehicle to its location in Anambra and effected the arrest without incident.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu according to a press release e-signed by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga assured that the Command is in close contact with their counterparts in Imo State to ensure the suspect and the recovered vehicle are processed in line with legal procedures.

Reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating crime through swift and intelligence-driven operations.
