DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: August 17 Topic: Judge all angelic visitation by God’s word. *Scriptures: 2 Cor. 11: 14 – 15; Gal. 1: 6 – 9; 1 Jn. 4: 1
“For as many as are led by the spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Rom 8:14)
Paul said by inspiration of the Holy Spirit that there are many voices out there in the world. There is the voice of your own human flesh, telling you what it wants you to do. There is a voice of your own unrenewed mind, telling you whether you should obey God or not. There are voices of other people, there is the voice which you hear anytime you read a newspaper, listen to television, browse the internet with wrong mind. There is a voice God in your born again human spirit. There is a voice of Satan. Satan’s voice always distorts and attempt to get you to disobey the word of God. Any voice you hear that gives you unrest or an uneasy feeling down in your gut is a voice you need to stop listening to because it is not of God.
Anything that is revealed to you even if it sounds like that of an angel or other voice that is contrary to the word of God is to be thrown into a spiritual dustbin! Always have in mind that just because something is supernatural, it doesn’t mean that it is of God. Satan is a supernatural being as well, and he can cause supernatural things to happen to deceive God’s elect. Some people will have vision, some people will not have vision. Having visions does not make you more spiritual than someone else. The Bible did not say, “those who see angels are spiritually mature and have more faith.” It is God who can determine who will have these manifestations and why. Angels come to change our circumstances, to give us direction, to protect us, to cause provisions to come to us and to deliver us. However, the manifestation of angels must be left to God’s will alone.
Angels do not replace the Holy Spirit (Jn. 14: 26). The Holy Spirit will teach you all things, not the angels of God, the Holy Spirit is our teacher. The Bible says; the angels of God desire to look into the things that God has revealed to us (1 Pet 1: 12). Never will an angel of God or Holy Spirit of God, build themselves up and put the Lord Jesus down. “Howbeit, when He, the spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak of Himself, but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will shew you things to come.” (Jn. 16:13). The Bible is clear. Believers in Christ are to look to His word and to the Holy Spirit within for guidance and not to angels.
Angels can cause circumstances to turn in your favor. They can direct supernatural manifestations of love, comfort, and deliverance. They can perform amazing feats of strength and operate in the supernatural. Some people believe that angels live on the inside of them and guide them from within. However, the Bible clearly reveals it is the Holy Spirit, and not angels who lives on the inside of you if you are a believer in Jesus Christ.
Keep Jesus as your number one priority. True manifestation of God’s will always and will only lift up the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Prayer point:
Oh God, there are many voices that are speaking to my mind at the same time; give me the spirit of discernment to be able to distinguish between the voice of God and that of the devil.
Confession:
Angels cannot take the place of the Holy Spirit in my life. Jesus is my number one priority.
