The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered a stolen commercial tricycle just hours after it was snatched from its operator at Isuaniocha Bridge in Awka North Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident occurred on 21st September, 2025, at about 2:20pm when armed men attacked a commercial tricycle operator and dispossessed him of his yellow tricycle with registration number NZM 92 YH.
“Police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad swiftly mobilised to the scene, and the victim was rescued and rushed to the hospital where he is responding to treatment,” Ikenga stated.
The Command disclosed that, acting on technology-guided intelligence, operatives traced the suspects to Awarasi Village, Uga in Aguata LGA, where the stolen tricycle was recovered. The suspects — identified as Kosisochukwu Nweke (26), Emmanuel Eze (24), and Osondu Ifeanyi (20) — allegedly attempted to escape but were given a hot chase and eventually arrested.
“Efforts are ongoing to uncover more leads related to their criminal activities, while the suspects shall be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigations,” the police spokesperson added.
The swift operation highlights the Command’s commitment to crime fighting, as SP Ikenga reassured residents that “the Police will continue to leverage intelligence and rapid response to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state.”
