Police Nab Four Suspected Armed Robbers, Kidnappers in Aguleri

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang alleged to be terrorizing Aguleri community with armed robbery and kidnapping.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, stormed Aguleri in the early hours of September 24 following credible intelligence.

The suspects, all males aged between 22 and 40, were identified as Uchenna Aniegboka, Sunday Nwakalor, Chukwuebuka Aniegbunam and Onyebuchi Udemba.

“During the operations, one pump action gun and one black Toyota Camry car with registration number SMK 835 FC were recovered,” the statement read.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to rid the state of criminal elements. “The Command is committed to ensuring that criminal elements have no hiding place in the State,” he stated.

He further appealed to residents to support security efforts, saying: “We urge members of the public to continue to provide timely information to the Police to aid in the fight against crime.”

The police confirmed that the suspects are still under interrogation and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
