DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: OCTOBER 21 ARE YOU CONSCIOUS OF WHAT COMES NEXT? (2) SCRIPTURE: PSALMS 104: 19; HEBREWS 9: 27
We had the first series of this devotional yesterday and it focused on amazing ways some people behave as if there is no God, no death and no ugly tomorrow, given how they treat human beings crudely. It is the opinion of the devotional that, if human beings are conscious of what comes to them in future, they will probably be humane enough to walk through life more wisely. Today’s lead text from Psalm 104: 19 says even the sun knows the place of its setting while talking of “seasons”. Let us use the sun here metaphorically for powerful men and women of our societies, to drive home the focus of this devotional. We all, no matter the positions attained, must know our settings, which are places where our life began and where it will end. Whether of wealthy destiny or poverty ridden family, we all began as God’s creations. So we must see ourselves in others.
Whatever is our state of life today, we human beings are ever fascinated by the seasons we stumbled upon. Some are met with season of poverty, thereafter driven by avarice for wealth and became crudely pursuers of wealth. Some are met with seasons when their parents control powers and ended up drunk with power, thereby seeing others around them as slave-servants. Some many others met seasons of terminal sicknesses and ended up believing God is unfaithful to them. Amongst all these groups, wisdom demands that being conscious of what comes next matters a lot. To the scions of wealthy and affluence families, the certainty that fortunes may change to disaster is possible. So they are to treat people they meet with love and kindness. To the offshoots of the poverty ridden family, wisdom demands that God can turn the paupers to prosperousness.
Today’s devotional warns those seeing themselves on the top most positions of wealth and Powers to learn from the sun which knows its setting. God who made the wealth and riches can change the tides of time. Judgment of who we are starts from this world. We should allow people talk more of how kind and humane we are, instead of telling others to avoid our ways. Christians believe that after death judgment takes over as the last appointed time for people (Heb. 9: 27). This simply tells us the need to be good to people. How many people are still conscious that judging people and rewarding them according to their works on the earth is the last “must happen” event? We may grab anything that could bring money to us. We can sleep with any person even beasts or ghosts to remain on top of others. We can be heads of satanic forces. The big question still stands. What will your end be?
PRAYER:
FATHER GOD, I humbly ask that my mind should be fixed on those things that will bring me rewards of good steward after I die in Jesus name. BLESSED JESUS, grant me favour to use my giftings and talents to building up humanity.
