Spread the love

We heard of how Abraham and his wife Sarah said “Yes Lord” to God’s calling out Abraham from his kindred and how they were exceedingly and fruitfully blessed by God. Today’s devotional is taking a step further to bring up how Prophet Isaiah who said “Yes Lord” to God’s call on him. Popular view on Isaiah had been that he was a Palace Prophet serving King Uzziah till the King died. After then, Isaiah had a vision when he saw the Lord, “high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple” (Isaiah 6:1). The Lord had a message to deliver to the nation of Judah, and He expresses His desire for a messenger to be sent to the people. Prophet Isaiah heard God asking “Whom shall I send, and who will go for me?” On hearing this Isaiah responded quickly: “Here I am, send me.” This is another form of “Yes Lord, send me.” Something is very special in this Isaiah response.

As a Prophet, Isaiah knew the implication of going to prophetically inform his people the minds of God. He was aware that he would step on toes of political and religious leaders who were not living according to the will of God. Yet, he said “Here I am, send me.” Prophet Isaiah knew how risky to life it is to prophesy to a nation that has rejected God. Yet he said, here I am, send me! Prophet Isaiah would now be preaching message of righteousness to the very people he was mingling with committing same sins with. Reason he said “Woe to me! . . . I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” (Isa. 6: 5). How could he rebuke the people? Yet, he answered “Yes Lord, send me.” Prophet Isaiah lived up to the new assignment God gave him. He confronted sinners amongst the Kings, Politicians, religious leaders and the common people.

The reward of Isaiah’s saying “yes Lord” will be seen from how God privileged him to received concrete information about the Saviour Jesus Christ. A rundown of few of these rewards:

1. He prophesied that a virgin would be conceived and will give birth to a son whose name shall be called Immanuel. He prophesied the type of food the child will be eating (Isa. 7: 14 – 15).

2. He prophesied that unto us a child will be born, unto us a son is to be given. And the government of the world will be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace… (Isa. 9: 6 -7).

3. He saw how a Messenger would come first to prepare the coming of Jesus Christ (Isa. 40: 3 – 5).

4. Isaiah was shown that the people from where the Messiah will come from will reject Him (Isa. 53: 3).

5. He prophesied that the Messiah would bring light to Galilee and be named Nazarene (Isa. 9: 1 – 2; 11: 1).

6. He said the Messiah would speak in parables (Isa. 6: 9 – 10).

7. He prophesied that Jesus would be sent to heal the broken hearted (Isa. 61: 1 – 2).

What a reward! These prophecies were direct and accurate; unlike what we hear these days. Isaiah’s case shows us that saying “Yes Lord” to what He sent you and doing it according to His pattern usually grant someone privilege of acquiring genuine anointing from God. Let this devotional Challenge our new generation servants of God.
