DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: DECEMBER 2 THERE IS EVERY REASON TO PRAISE GOD (2) SCRIPTURE: GENESIS 1: 29; PSALM 30: 11

Spread the love

Giving God praise and thanks still remains a difficult thing to many people as well as some Christians. We are predominantly given to the believe that God ought to have done more to us than what He had done. We most often, feel discontented seeing what we ought to have had in terms of good foods, good personal houses, assorted vehicles to drive about; twenty-four hours’ health every day etc. It should not be when God has done great and good thing for us that we are to give Him praise, that is, to extol His name. We must know that it is far more rewarding to give God thanks and praise in difficult or hopeless times. As seen in yesterday’s devotional, there is need to praise God on those things we think the most minors. We might not know the value of our fingers until one of them is cut off. That you have your completed fingers or toes from January till December of the year is enough to praise God.

Many do not see it good enough to praise God while passing through pains or sicknesses. If we can know that pains and sicknesses often increase our wisdom about life, then we have no option than to praise God when we are passing through turbulent times in life. Certain great evil or problem may be allowed by God to come on our ways for us to know Him and the power of His deliverance better. When after such an experience is got, the situation will teach us how to sing praises to God. King David might have had such experience when he wrote: “You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy” (Psalm 30: 11). Life is full of mysteries. Somebody would wake up in the morning like every other person, yet dies before noon of the same day. You who have seen the early hours of the day and now seeing the latter part of evening should give God praise.

Another simple reason to praise God is His provisions of edible things in this world. We know what is yam, cassava, beans, rice, animals and birds for meat etc. But we neither created any of them nor do know how and why all of them came to be. But God says in the Bible: “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” (Gen. 1: 29). Simply put, since the foods and meats were not created by us but by God, let us make sure we praise Him every day for making raw foods and meats available. Many of us woke up in the morning, walked out into some distances and stepped upon mines or grenade and died. How many places have you, reading this devotional walked upon, played around or driven past without stepping on deadly things from January till this December? Yet you see no reason to praise God? The beloved, this devotional aims at pointing out those things we think too minor in life, but too important to be seen as reason to give God praise in our life time. Let us try as much as possible to use the whole December praising God. The benefits will be amazing.

PRAYER:

GREAT AND MIGHTY GOD, I prayerfully seek for your HOLY SPIRIT to show me how important those things I think not too in life are to me so as to give you praise, in Jesus name.
