DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: DECEMBER 11 PRAISE CONQUERS ENEMIES 2 Chronicles 20: 1 – 3, 14 – 25

Spread the love

In the days of Jehoshaphat, the King of Judah, great multitudes from Moat and Ammon formed alliance of armies to uproot the Israelites. These were same people the Israelites spared their lives on their ways to the Promised Land. The Bible said that fear gripped Jehoshaphat on hearing the bad news. He organised prayers, set up sanctuary and most likely, offered different offerings so solicit God’s power and might over the enemies. Hope started showing up when a prophet, Prophet Jahaziel told Jehoshaphat the plan of God over the battle. God spoke through His Prophet that Jehoshaphat and his people should confront the great numbers of the enemies.

The assurance was that the Israelites will not use their hands to war but none of the enemies will go home from the battlefield. The Bible in this passage didn’t tell me that God told Jehoshaphat to raise praise theme. He likely heard God when he fell on the ground worshipping God. After the worship, Jehoshaphat called the Levites and appointed them to form praise team. Their duty was to be in front so as to “praise the beauty and holiness” of God in song. The Levites “stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with loud voice on high” (verse 19). As they were praising God there was confusion in the enemies’ camp. God set ambush against the enemies. They turned against each other and killed each other completely. By the time Jehoshaphat and his people climbed up to peep, they were heaps of dead bodies (verses 22 – 24). God conquered through praise.

In this month, similar deliverance will be extended to you and your families in Jesus name. God will do those same miracles for Nigeria in this month. All that is needed is praising God joyfully while directing our faith and minds towards any areas we were told that enemies have surrounded us or the nation Nigeria. The enemies will turn against each other, finish each other and the world will hear the story. It doesn’t take many stanzas and lyrics of melodious songs. It takes faith and absolute faith in the LORD our God. Imagine all the words in the praise sung by the Levites: – “Praise the LORD, for His Mercy endureth forever” (verse 21). The Levites were moving forward repeating this phrase playing their instruments. Amazingly, God came down to conquer the enemies of Israelites.

The battles of life facing Nigerians these days are very fearsome, formidable and depressing. Yet, giving quality praise to God will give us victories as we cross over the midnight of every December of the year. The praise that conquers enemies of the children of God doesn’t contain voluminous songs. The interest of God is the heart content and the quality of hope and faith backing up the praise. It comes out of a joyful heart and not a fearful heart.

TAKING ACTION:

Get into praising God with faith and trust, bringing to remembrance, your enemies and ask God for conquest over them. God will make you see deliverances from them.
