“I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe.” By Dalai Lama

Every human being has his or her darkest days intermittently. These are days ahead of us that we might think no hope exists beyond them. They are days we see closed-up roads against possibilities. In our darkest days, we judge the universe as unfair to us. Many have become totally discouraged seeing many challenges, troubles, problems etc., staring at their faces while thinking about their tomorrow. The month of January holds such challenges, especially in Africa. This is because most African adults spent a lot during every Christmas period. Looking towards January is like looking at cloud of impossibilities. Things appear so hopeless and deadly. But at this, there are those who focus on the brightness of tomorrow in their darkest days. Mr. Dalai Lama whose quote is used above is one of those people.

This devotional comes with message of positive hope, telling all readers that there is brightness in the supposed darkest days of life. We are not to focus on the physical difficulties standing before us, but to spiritually look at brightest tomorrow through the darkest days. This could form the caution from Apostle Paul warning Christians not to be negatively too anxious in their minds (Phil. 4: 6). Hope says: “no matter the bad situation, goodness is coming.” The hopefuls always have positive expectation looking forward for when divine providence will open door at them. So, they beam the light of their expectations in the “brightest days” beyond the darkest days. As Christians, we are to make use of what Jesus said that we are not to worry about tomorrow because it will take care of itself (Matt. 6: 34). Jesus pointed out we are of much value to God that He always make provisions for our tomorrow.

Being too anxious about tomorrow, looking at piles of problems has caused me hell of ugly tomorrow. It had stopped me from thinking positively about having ability to accomplish my desires. I had been stopped from thinking of marriage due to poverty. I had removed myself from moving with my friends thinking that I was not as rich as them. I had refused to delve into businesses for fear of where could the fund comes from. My change came when I began asking God why trees grow on rocks. Why water hyacinths grow on top of water and not on soil. The beloved, not until we see brightest in the darkest days ahead we will ever be limited in the accomplishments of life.

PRAYERS:

1. Father, deliver me from daily worries and anxieties over troubles standing before me in Jesus name.

2. Today, LORD Jesus, I give you all my loads of worries to help me carry them for they are too heavy for me to carry.
