Ebonyi ADC Conducts Chairmanship, Councillorship Primaries, Expresses Confidence Of Wining Election

The Afrcan Democratic Congress (ADC), has conducted primary elections to produce the chairmanship and councillorship candidates of the party across the thirteen local government areas and the one hundred and seventy-one wards of Ebonyi State.

Addressing journalists shortly after the conduct of the primary elections in Ohaukwu, Ezza North and Ishielu Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State, the State Chairman, Dr. Mrs. Jennifer Adibe Nwafor, expressed confidence that the candidates are going to win their elections.

Dr. Mrs. Jennifer Adibe Nwafor, who described the process of the primaries as free and fair, disclosed that she areas she monitored which include, but not limited to Ogboji, Ndiagu, Okposhi, Ishingbo II, Umuogharu, Effium II and Ezillo wards, had their primaries conducted in line with the stipulated law.

Aidbe said, “What we have now, because people are still conducting primaries elsewhere, so for those that have finished, just eight councillors and three chairmen. So when they conclude, I will still let you know. But for now, these are the people that have concluded their primaries. But everything will be concluded today”, she assured.

The Chairman tasked the chairmanship and councillorship candidates to eschew violence and embark on issue-based campaigns in order to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“So everybody will go back and talk to their supporters. And then when it’s time to flag off the campaign, you will see us as a nation that we are ever ready to take over. Yes, my charges to them is not to go into a violent way.

“Because I think that in an election, the campaign is about issue-based. What can you do that is better than what another person has done? And what are the new things you have to do? Because when you go into violent situations, it will not help us”, she said.

In an interview, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Uchenna Ebere, expressed the confidence that she will win the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the upcoming election.

She appealed for support for the teeming ADC supporters, saying that the party was prepared to make a difference in the Council.

Se said, “My appeal is for their total support, 100% support. We need to turn things around, we need to make it happen.

“We need to show that there is a difference, let there be a difference. Let people know that it’s a new party, it’s a new era. It’s a time we need to showcase who we are, different from what it used to be. I have one million percent confidence that I will win”, she boasted.

In another separate interview with the elected chairman of Ezza North Local Government Area, Hon. Anyigor Stanley Nwokwu, assured the people of Ezza North that when he wins the election in August, that he will tackle unemployment and illiteracy.

He said, “I have been in politics since 1999. I started active politics and from there, I have acquired a lot. So, if I eventually win, I’m going to play a different role by helping my people.

“My administration will tackle poverty, will tackle illiteracy and will tackle unemployment. I must make sure that many people are employed because my administration will be free from corruption we are seeing in Nigeria today”, he said.

Speaking earlier, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Secretary of Electoral Matters and Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) Liaison Officer, Engineer Bassey Imoke, disclosed that the elections were conducted through indirect primary where the delegates queued behind the candidates.

He stated that in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Mrs. Uchenna Chidibere polled eight hundred and four (804) votes to emerge the winner of the primary election conducted at Ezzangbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

He also disclosed that Honourable Anyigor Stanley scored 209 votes to emerged as the winner of the primary held in Ezza North Local Government Area.

“We have the total number there, 804 votes. It was casted in favour of Honourable Uche Ebere , who eventually emerged the winner of the election, while Anyigor Stanley polled 209 votes to emerge the chairmanship candidate of Ezza North Local Government Area.

He called on the supporters of African Democratic Congress (ADC) across the thirteen local government areas of the state and the one hundred and seventy-one wards to support their candidates for the election

“My charge to the party supporters is for all the to rally around our candidates because our candidates are dogged, vibrant and accepted by all”, he said.
