Ezza North, Ezza South Goat Dealers Association Gets Caretaker Committee

Following the crisis bothering on leadership, conduct of election, financial improprieties and division rocking the Ezza North and Ezza South Goat Dealers Association in Ebonyi State, the state Commissioner for Market Development and Park, Professor Nwogo Ajuka Obasi, has waded into the multiple crisis in order to avert further trouble.

Briefing journalists on Friday after a meeting with the defunct leadership and members of Ezza North and Ezza South Goat Dealers Association in Ebonyi State, Nwogo Ajuka Obasi, said it was resolved that the former leadership should come to an end, and, therefore set up a caretaker committee.

He pointed out that the Association was bedeviled with myriad of issues and was resolved that the former leadership of the union should be terminated, and the decision to dissolve all leadership structures of Ezza North and Ezza South Goat Dealers Association, Onueke stands.

The Commissioner said, “And then we noted, one, that actually there is a leadership crisis that is rocking the Ezza North and Ezza South Goat Dealers Association. We also noted that there were attempts to conduct elections, but that the modalities were not very much in line with the standard. We noted that there were some bridges that led to the formation of Ezza South Gold Dealers”, he said.

According to him, the decision to dissolve the leadership of Ezza North and Ezza South Goat Dealers Association, Onueke, came after a consultation with Almagamated Traders Union, Eke Imoha.

“We also noted that the Almagagmated Traders Union has weighed in and resolved part of the crisis by trying to align for the union to come back together as one great union. Having noted that, we also noted that there were some mismanagements of some funds for the union and lack of accountability.

‘So, we looked into all this and came up with a resolution that, one, the former leadership of the union has now come to the end”, he announced.

While reading the ministry’s resolution, the Commissioner added that consultaion was made with opposing parties and the almagagmated Traders Union, Onueke and resolved that the leadership structure of Ezza North and Ezza South Goat Dealers Association be resolved and a caretaker committee constituted.

“That is one. So, former executives were not dissolved, but their tenure has come to an end. Two, that our decision that dissolved all leadership structures of Ezza North and Ezza South Goat Dealers Association, Onueke, stands.

“So, the leadership structures stand dissolved. We have now come up with consultations. We have consulted with the leadership of Almagamated Traders Union, Eke Imoha.

“We have also consulted with different groups and different sections, different opposing groups. And we have come up that a caretaker committee will be constituted. And that this caretaker committee will serve three months effective from this date.

“And within these three months, they would have placed a modality for conducting a free, fair, and credible election. And the members which will pilot this affair are as I named them. The chairman of the caretaker committee is Mr. Usulor Godwin Nweke. The secretary will be Mr. Iloke Joseph Kelechi. The treasurer will be Mr. Elom Sunday Egede. The PRO is Mr. Igwe Sunday Ezekiel . While the provost is Mr. Nwafor Solomon”, he disclosed.

The Commissioner said the people constituted as caretaker committee will act for three months under strict supervision and monitoring to ensure they conduct election.

Speaking the outgoing Chairman, Nwakpa Vincent Onyebuchi solicited for support for the caretaker committee, urged them to make consultation in grey areas, even as he urged them to eschew gossips.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr. Usulor Godwin Nweke, in his acceptance speech promised to make peace his watchword, and called on members of Ezza North and Ezza Goat Dealers Association to support his administration.

Speaking also, the Almagamated Traders Union, Eke Imoha, Nawkpa opined that for peace to prevail among the Goat Dealers, some persons will bear the brunt. He urged the caretaker committee to consider those who has interest of the Goat Dealers Association, and carry everybody along.

The inauguration of the caretaker committee takes immediate effect from today 27th February 2026, while the outgoing leadership has been directed to handover on or before Wednesday 4th March , 2026.
