Abduction of Ebonyi Monarch Sparks Outrage as Rep. Chinedu Ogah Demands Immediate Release

The lawmaker representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Conedu Oga has strongly condemned the abduction of His Royal Highness, Eze Francis Igwe, describing the incident as barbaric and a direct assault on the traditional values of the people of Ebonyi State.
In a statement issued to journalists in Abakaliki, Ogah expressed deep shock and dismay over the abduction, which occurred on Sunday at Nwakpu in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State Ebonyi State. He described the act as an aberration and a grave insult to the revered traditional institution and the peace-loving people of Ikwo Noyo and the entire Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency.
Ogah, who also chairs the House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, said such criminality has no place in a civilized society and must be unequivocally rejected by all well-meaning citizens. He called on the abductors to release the traditional ruler immediately and unharmed, without placing any conditions.
The federal lawmaker further urged youths in Ikwo to rise against criminal activities and work collectively to prevent a recurrence, stressing the need for vigilance, unity, and shared community responsibility.
He also called on security agencies to intensify efforts toward the swift rescue of the monarch and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted. Ogah reassured his constituents that necessary measures are being taken to address the situation and strengthen security across the constituency.
Emphasizing the critical role of traditional institutions as pillars of peace, unity, and cultural identity, Ogah appealed to residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with security authorities as efforts continue to secure the safe return of the abducted royal father.
