Nigeria’s drive toward impactful corporate social responsibility in healthcare received a major boost as the NNPC Foundation Limited clinched the prestigious CSR Champion Award (Health) 2025 in recognition of its far-reaching medical outreach programmes across the country.

The award was presented at the Silver Jubilee edition of the Independent Newspapers Awards 2026 held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, celebrating institutions that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to societal development.

According to a press statement issued by NNPC Limited and signed by Andy Odeh, the recognition highlights the Foundation’s impactful contributions to healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, and access to energy.

The statement noted that the award followed a series of life-changing health interventions by the Foundation, including free cataract screenings and surgeries that restored sight to over 6,000 Nigerians, cancer and glaucoma treatments, and extensive medical outreaches to underserved communities.

Other initiatives cited include the renovation and furnishing of hospital wards with 100 beds at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, sponsorship of heart surgeries, and provision of dental health supplies to children in special schools.

Reacting to the honour, Managing Director of the Foundation, Emmanuella Arukwe, described the award as a strong endorsement of the organisation’s mission and impact.

“This recognition speaks to the resilience of the communities we serve, the dedication of our team, and the strength of partnerships that have enabled us to deliver meaningful interventions,” she said.

Arukwe added that the achievement reflects the confidence Nigerians have in the Foundation’s work and its commitment to purposeful social investment.

“We receive this award with gratitude and a renewed sense of responsibility to expand our reach and do even more across the country,” she stated.

She also acknowledged the support of the management of NNPC Limited, noting that their leadership has been instrumental in strengthening the Foundation’s capacity to deliver impactful programmes nationwide.

The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to advancing health interventions that improve outcomes and contribute meaningfully to national development, positioning itself as a key player in Nigeria’s evolving CSR landscape.
