2027 Plateau Guber: Aspirant Bida Boasts of Victory, Says “People Will Decide”

A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Commander Yilchini Jan Bida (Rtd), has expressed strong confidence in clinching the party’s ticket, declaring that the adoption of direct primaries will hand victory to the people and, ultimately, to him.
Speaking after his screening, Bida described the exercise as smooth and a reflection of the party’s commitment to fairness and inclusiveness. He said the process demonstrated that the APC “believes in internal democracy” and is determined to provide “an open field, a level playing ground” for all aspirants.
The retired commander hinged his optimism on the party’s decision to allow members determine its flagbearer through direct primaries, insisting that the people of Plateau State are solidly behind his ambition.
“I am confident so much that there is going to be a direct primary. They have handed over the power to the people to decide who becomes the governor,” he said. “Plateau people are behind me. They are waiting for me to be back home, and hopefully I will be sworn in as governor of Plateau come May 29, 2027.”
Bida also pointed to what he described as widespread grassroots support, recalling scenes of jubilation that greeted his entry into the race. According to him, the reception he received while picking and submitting his nomination forms reflects the trust reposed in his leadership capacity.
“When I picked up my forms, the people of Plateau were celebrating and jubilating because they know my capability. When I submitted my forms, they celebrated it,” he stated.
He added that his successful screening would further ignite celebrations across the state, reinforcing his belief that victory at the primaries is within reach.
“I can assure you that this evening there is going to be celebration on the Plateau because I have just been screened successfully,” Bida said. “Plateau people are waiting for me and hopefully all of us will smile for victory when I am announced from the primaries.”
The APC is expected to conduct its primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several aspirants jostling for the party’s governorship ticket in Plateau State.
