The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has directed all aspirants seeking elective offices on the party’s platform to maintain discipline and embrace peaceful conduct, warning that any form of misconduct will attract severe sanctions.

The Chairman according to a press statement e-signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Tooki Abimbola has outlined strict expectations for aspirants ahead of the party’s primaries for the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda further stressed the party’s commitment to transparent, credible, and democratic primaries, noting that such processes are critical to strengthening internal democracy and sustaining public trust.

“The party remains committed to transparent, peaceful, credible, and democratic primaries that will further strengthen internal democracy and consolidate the confidence Nigerians continue to repose in us,” he said.

He, however, issued a stern warning against actions capable of disrupting the exercise.

“The leadership of the party will not tolerate any act capable of undermining the integrity of the primaries. Any aspirant or supporter found instigating violence, sponsoring unrest, or engaging in anti-party activities will face severe disciplinary measures, including immediate suspension,” Yilwatda warned.

The APC chairman emphasized that the party’s reputation as a nationally accepted political platform must not be compromised by individual ambitions.

According to him, “no personal ambition should override the collective interest of the party and the stability of the nation.”

He reminded aspirants of the inevitability of winners and losers in any democratic contest, urging them to approach the process with sportsmanship.

“In every democratic contest, only one person will emerge victorious. What is important is the spirit with which the process is approached. I urge all aspirants to display maturity, patriotism, and good sportsmanship by embracing the outcome,” he stated.

Yilwatda also called on aspirants to act as ambassadors of the party, noting that their conduct would reflect the values and vision of the APC before, during, and after the primaries.

The party chairman also commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and party processes.

He said the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” is laying a strong foundation for economic growth and national development, cautioning against divisive politics.

“This is not the time for destructive politics or selfish interests that may undermine the remarkable progress already achieved,” he said.

Highlighting achievements under the Tinubu administration, Yilwatda pointed to ongoing infrastructure development, including road construction, rail expansion, and reforms in the ports and energy sectors. He also cited interventions in agriculture, support for small and medium enterprises, and digital economy initiatives as evidence of progress.

“The infrastructure revolution currently ongoing under President Tinubu’s leadership will have far-reaching effects on economic productivity, job creation, and national competitiveness,” he added.

Yilwatda concluded by urging party members and stakeholders to remain united and committed to ensuring President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, insisting that continuity is essential to sustaining ongoing reforms and national development.

He reaffirmed the APC leadership’s commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and internal cohesion, assuring Nigerians of continued purposeful leadership anchored on stability and progress.
