DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JUNE 6 CONFIDENCE THROUGH DIFFICULT TIMES (1) SCRIPTURE: HABAKKUK 3: 17 – 19
Difficult times have been in the world since the creation of the world. Adam and Eve had a stint with life free of difficulty in the Garden of Eden, but lost it and became acquainted with difficult times all through the remaining days of their existence in the earth._ *No existing nation can boast of never witnessed difficult times. All religious organizations, despite the messages they teach or preach have had difficult moments.* Every passing era had its circles of difficult times. Multitude of people have cried or murmured against God for allowing them encountered hard times. *There are difficult times quite alright, but is not every person that difficult times consume. Many have survived difficult times that came upon them.* These are people who deal with hard times with confidence.
*Prophet Habakkuk saw difficult time. He and his people were faced with territorial warfare. Nations around them threatened them, attacked them and subjected them to dehumanization. Prophet Habakkuk developed fear and trembling emotionally. But he expressed positive trait.* He saw God beyond the difficult times. Against all odds, he promised himself to rejoice in the LORD and be joyful in his God and his deliverer. *His words: – “Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes in the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!” (Hab. 3: 17 – 19 Africa Study Bible).* What an expression of confidence and faith in God?
*The beloved in Christ, people who cry and murmur have never win over their hard times. But those who have confidence through difficult times often emerged winners.* Prophet Habakkuk found self in a web of hard times, yet he refused to be controlled by the events around him. He trusted in God, knowing that God is his strength. As Christians, we ought to know why difficult times are always channeled towards our ways. They come so as to turn us away from God. But please, my beloved, do not turn to the world because of difficult times. Prove tougher than the things confronting you with confidence in God. This will bring you victory. This could be reason Robert Sculler said: “Tough time never last long, but tough people do”.
PRAYER:
Holy Spirit, my great Comforter and Supporter, keep me through every difficult time I will find myself in through the power in the name of Jesus Christ. Grant me the grace to hold on till my change comes.
