BENUE SOUTH UNDER SIEGE : DR . OGBENJUWA OYIJE OCHEAKITI CONDEMNS ONDO UGBOJU ATTACKS, DEMANDS IMMEDIATE GOVERNORSHIP ACTION OTUKPO,BENUE STATE

The early hours of today brought renewed terror to Benue South as heavily armed herders launched a brutal, unprovoked assault on the Ondo Ugboju community near Ogobia in Otukpo Local Government Area. The attackers invaded the sleeping community, killing, maiming, and destroying property indiscriminately, forcing hundreds of traumatised residents to flee their ancestral homes.
This latest atrocity follows a grim pattern of escalating violence in the region, coming on the heels of a devastating weekend assault on the nearby Otukpo-Nobi community that claimed multiple innocent lives.
Reacting to the tragedy, counterterrorism and security expert Dr. Ogbenjuwa Oyije Ocheakiti, the 2027 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Deputy Governorship Candidate for Benue State, condemned the ongoing siege in its entirety. Dr. Ocheakiti, alongside her principal, Chief Mike Kaase Aondoakaa (SAN), expressed deep outrage over the persistent vulnerability of Benue South communities.
In a sharp rebuke of the current administration’s security approach, Dr. Ocheakiti challenged the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, to move past rhetoric and deploy immediate, decisive interventions.
“How many more villages must be ravaged, plundered, and entirely sacked in Benue South before this government takes concrete action to protect its citizens?” Dr. Ocheakiti questioned.
The PDP leadership strictly criticised the state government for what they described as “governance by lamentation.” They urgently called on Governor Alia to immediately release and deploy state security votes to logistically support federal security agencies on the ground, including Operation Whirl Stroke, to restore absolute law and order.
The PDP 2027 Governorship Campaign stands in solidarity with the people of Otukpo LGA during this dark period and reiterates its unwavering commitment to a secure, peaceful, and prosperous Benue State.
