The Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has described the launch of Power Force as a significant step in implementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to expanding access to electricity while creating opportunities for young Nigerians.

Halilu joined the Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Mrs. Olu Verheijen, and other stakeholders at the official launch of the initiative, which was earlier announced by President Tinubu as part of the administration’s strategy to accelerate the nationwide deployment of smart electricity meters and develop the skilled workforce needed to support the country’s power sector reforms.

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Halilu said building a resilient power sector requires sustained investment in local talent alongside critical infrastructure.

He noted that the programme’s focus on equipping 5,000 young Nigerians with technical skills for smart meter deployment aligns with NASENI’s commitment to strengthening indigenous manufacturing, expanding technical capacity, and building an innovation ecosystem that supports Nigeria’s industrialisation agenda.

According to him, investing in people is essential to achieving long-term energy security, increasing local value addition, and creating sustainable economic opportunities.

Halilu added that initiatives such as Power Force demonstrate the importance of aligning technology, skills development, and strategic collaboration to build a more resilient and prosperous Nigeria.
