OSUN GUBER POLL: APC Inaugurates Campaign Council, Boasts of Resources for Victory

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that the ruling party possesses the political structure, experience and human resources required to secure victory in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, describing the poll as a crucial rehearsal ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda made the declaration on Tuesday during the inauguration of the APC National Campaign Council for the Osun governorship election in Abuja, where he charged party leaders and members to mobilise aggressively across the state to ensure the election of the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebanji.

The APC National Chairman said the composition of the campaign council reflected the party’s enormous political strength, bringing together governors, members of the National Assembly, ministers, former lawmakers, deputy governors, business leaders and other stakeholders drawn from across the country.

According to him, the calibre of personalities assembled for the campaign underscored the party’s determination to reclaim Osun State.

“If any political party in Nigeria has human resources in abundance, it is the APC. If there is any political party that has the most experienced politicians in Nigeria, no political party can boast of the number of governors, National Assembly members, local government chairmen, councillors and former political office holders that we have,” he said.

The APC chairman further noted that leaders from different political backgrounds had continued to join the ruling party, thereby enriching its experience and electoral capacity.

“We have all it takes to win elections—from councillorship to local government elections, National Assembly, House of Assembly, governorship and the presidential election in 2027,” he declared.

Yilwatda described the Osun governorship election as more than a state contest, saying it would serve as the party’s “practice ground” for the next general elections.

“This will be the last election before the general election. It will be our rehearsal of the machinery we are preparing for 2027. That is why winning the Osun election is very important to the APC,” he stated.

He assured party members that the APC leadership would deploy both human and material resources to the state, with governors, ministers, lawmakers and party officials expected to embark on extensive grassroots mobilisation.

According to him, governors from the North and South, alongside National Assembly members, state legislators, local government chairmen and councillors, would participate in house-to-house and community-based campaigns across Osun.

“There is no tribe, no language, no community in Osun State where the APC does not have people who can knock on doors, speak to the electorate and convince them to support our candidate,” Yilwatda said.

He also stressed that women and youth mobilisation would remain central to the party’s campaign strategy, directing relevant committees to intensify grassroots engagement across the state.

Following his remarks, the APC National Chairman formally inaugurated members of the National Campaign Council and expressed confidence that the team possessed the political experience and organisational capacity required to deliver victory.

In his acceptance speech, Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the Osun governorship election, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, pledged that the campaign council would prosecute an issue-based, peaceful and people-oriented campaign focused on the achievements of the APC-led Federal Government and the party’s governorship candidate.

Uzodimma said the council would take its message directly to communities across Osun, engaging workers, farmers, market women, artisans, youths, professionals, traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders.

“Our campaign will be vigorous without violence, competitive without bitterness, and confident without arrogance. We shall conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the Omoluabi ethos of Osun State,” he said.

He added that the campaign council remained committed to delivering “a peaceful, free, fair and credible victory” for the APC in the August 15 governorship election.
