Dabiri-Erewa Hails Reappointment of NTA, NAN Chiefs, Says Renewals Will Strengthen Nigeria’s Media

Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, and the Managing Director/CEO of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali Mohammed Ali, on the renewal of their appointments for another three years.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued by NiDCOM and e-signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, mnipr, Head, Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, NiDCOM, on August 24, 2026.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the second three-year tenure for the two media executives, with their renewed appointments taking effect from October 20, 2026, following their initial appointments on October 20, 2023.
Dabiri-Erewa described the reappointments as a well-deserved vote of confidence in the two media leaders, noting their contributions to the projection of Nigeria’s image both domestically and internationally.
She particularly highlighted their roles in communicating Nigeria’s story to millions of Nigerians in the diaspora, stressing that their continued leadership would support sustained coverage of national issues, including matters relating to the diaspora.
“Their continued leadership assures the country of sustained, credible and far-reaching coverage of national issues, including the diaspora agenda,” Dabiri-Erewa said.
The NiDCOM chairman commended Dembos and Ali for their years of professional experience and commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s state-owned media institutions at a time when the sector is undergoing significant technological and operational transformation.
She noted that the media executives had demonstrated commitment to modernising their respective organisations while expanding their digital reach and improving the dissemination of information to audiences within and outside Nigeria.
The reappointment of the NTA Director-General and NAN Managing Director, according to Dabiri-Erewa, would provide continuity in the leadership of the two critical national media institutions and further support efforts to effectively communicate Nigeria’s development and national priorities.
Dabiri-Erewa wished both media chiefs continued success as they commence their second term, expressing confidence that they would continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of Nigeria’s media sector and the projection of the country’s image globally.
