The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) has called for stronger collaboration between procurement and project management professionals to accelerate Nigeria’s industrial transformation, improve infrastructure delivery and ensure greater value for public expenditure.

The call was contained in a press release issued by the Bureau of Public Procurement on November 5, 2026, and signed by Ijeoma Chijioke Adindu, Head of Information and Public Relations, following the International Project Management Day programme and induction ceremony of the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) in Abuja.

Speaking at the event themed “Project Management: A Catalyst for Nigeria’s Industrial Transformation,” the BPP Director-General, Dr. Adebowale A. He stressed that the success of public projects should not be measured merely by contracts awarded, but by the delivery of functional infrastructure, quality services and sustainable benefits.

“At the Bureau, our reform agenda seeks to strengthen this connection through the Nigeria First Policy, Sector-Based Procurement Frameworks and initiatives that broaden supplier participation,” he said.

According to him, the reforms are designed to position government procurement to support domestic production, strengthen local supply chains and expand opportunities for Nigerian enterprises.
