The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, OFR, has joined a global outpouring of grief following the passing of Nigeria’s former President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
In a heartfelt condolence message issued on behalf of the Service Chiefs and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), General Musa extended his deepest sympathies to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the family of the late President, and the nation at large.
General Musa according to a press release e-signed by the Director, Defence Information, Tukur Gusau Brigadier General hailed the late President Buhari as “an exemplary leader” whose life and legacy were defined by discipline, integrity, and a resolute commitment to the unity and advancement of Nigeria. “He fought tirelessly for the unity and indivisibility of our great country. His leadership, courage, and principles will continue to inspire generations of citizens,” he said.
Highlighting Buhari’s dual contributions as a military and democratic leader, the CDS emphasized his enduring impact on national development.
“President Buhari has written his name in gold as an incorruptible leader and vanguard of prudency,” General Musa remarked.
He further praised the late President’s strict adherence to discipline and the rule of law, noting that Buhari’s zero tolerance for indiscipline was a defining hallmark of his governance and remains a worthy example for leaders across all spheres.
As the nation mourns a towering figure in its political and military history, General Musa offered prayers for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to grant his family and the entire country the strength to bear the loss.
