The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has described the Tinubu-Shettima presidential ticket as Nigeria’s “most formidable political combination,” urging Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 to consolidate ongoing economic reforms and infrastructure development.

Yilwatda made the declaration at the Rainbow Coalition Presidential Campaign Rally held on Saturday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, according to a statement issued on November 7, 2026, by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki.

Addressing party supporters, political stakeholders and coalition members from across Rivers State and the South-South region, the APC chairman said the Tinubu-Shettima ticket embodied political experience, courage, capacity and tested leadership needed to steer Nigeria towards sustainable economic growth.

“The most formidable presidential ticket we have ever produced in Nigeria is the Tinubu-Shettima ticket,” Yilwatda declared, describing Tinubu as a fearless and courageous leader determined to confront the country’s longstanding challenges.

He said the President had demonstrated the political will to tackle structural economic problems, including unsustainable fuel subsidy expenditure, revenue constraints and mounting fiscal obligations.

Yilwatda identified the removal of the fuel subsidy, foreign exchange market unification and other economic adjustments as key components of the administration’s efforts to rebuild the economy and strengthen public finances.

While acknowledging the difficulties associated with the reforms, he said the government was pursuing economic stabilisation measures, social interventions and infrastructure investments to cushion their impact on households and businesses.

The APC chairman also highlighted the administration’s infrastructure programme, particularly major highway and superhighway projects, describing them as strategic investments in economic growth, trade and national integration.

“We have a President who understands that development cannot happen without infrastructure,” he said, adding that the projects would “open up economic corridors, facilitate the movement of goods and services and create new opportunities for our people.”

He further described the road projects as investments in agriculture, commerce, industrialisation, tourism and the prosperity of future generations.

Yilwatda urged Nigerians to sustain the reform trajectory, insisting that the 2027 presidential election would provide an opportunity to consolidate the administration’s policies and pursue continuity and stability.

On the political situation in Rivers State, he commended the Rainbow Coalition and other stakeholders for aligning behind Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying the support had transcended traditional party boundaries.

“Come 2027, we want to continue with this reformer and performer as our President. That is why the coalition and the people of Rivers State, irrespective of political party, have decided to work together for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

The APC national chairman expressed confidence that Rivers State would deliver substantial electoral support for Tinubu, citing the mobilisation capacity of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and other political leaders.

He predicted that Rivers would become a major stronghold of the President’s re-election campaign, expressing optimism that the consolidation of ongoing reforms would bring prosperity to Nigerians.
